Factory of Matek at new address Turba 25

The new plant of Matek started operating in Pärnu’s industrial area Rääma with address Turba 25. The building covers the area of 7700 square meters and allows doubling the current production capacity.

Matek was located on rental premises so far, but it did not suit their requirements anymore due to technological development of the company. The construction of the new plant was started in summer 2011 and was carried out according to original plan allowing starting operating in the new address in March 2012. All telephone numbers are also in use in the new address.

Matek participates for the first time in the fair Ecobuild by taking part of Estonia’s joint exposition organized by EAS. Since its launch in 2005, Ecobuild has almost doubled in size every year to become the biggest event in the world for sustainable design, construction and the built environment.

EAS has organized a joint stand for Estonian companies helping them to find new business partners on important export markets. According to EAS Ecobuild offers Estonian enterprises an opportunity to introduce its competence in the field of innovative energy efficient construction and helps to increase reputation of Estonia’s entrepreneurship sphere overall.

Our main goal in taking part of the fair is to introduce Matek’s products and to find new contacts. On the other half the fair gives good opportunity to find out more about the local market –its traditions and client’s expectations, also the benefits and weaknesses of our products and what has to be improved. The fair helps us to increase our knowledge about the market and its expectations and also to find out more about new technologies of energy-efficiency.

Matek factory’s topping-out

On Friday, 2nd December a topping-out was held in Matek’s new factory.  According to prime contractor Eston Ehitus the work is going according to original plan and will be given to Matek’s use in February 2012. The construction started in July 2011. Matek’s new factory in Pärnu’s industrial area named Niidu at Turba 25 which allows doubling current capacity of production will be completed next year.

Sven Mats – managing director of Matek and Peep Sakk – member of board of Nordecon’s subsidiary company Eston Ehitus signed a construction contract on Monday to start building a new plant for Matek on premises in Pärnu Turba street 25.

Premises of the plant with the territory 30 296 square meters are located in Pärnu’s industrial area named Rääma. Total area in the building to be constructed is about 7700 m2 and it will occupy up to 150 employees. The building has to be handed over to the client in February 2012.

„The goal is to produce up to 120 000 square meters of plane elements and volumetric elements with floor area of 10 000 square meters, which would be doubling production capacity compared to current numbers“ commented Matek’s managing director Sven Mats.    Matek has been located on rental premises so far, but according to Mats they do not suit their requirements anymore due to technological development of the company.

Full cost of the project including purchase of premises, construction and moving of technological equipment is 3,5 million €. The project will be financed partially by internal funds and partially by bank loan. Supervision of construction project will be carried out by  AS Telora-E and the author of project is AS Meistri Projekt.

Matek is a producer of custom made prefabricated timber frame houses, established in 1988, thus the oldest company engaged in modern prefabricated timber solutions in Estonia. 95% of the sales volume has been exported during previous years and main export markets are Norway and Sweden. Matek mainly produces tailor made apartment houses, kindergartens, schools. Private houses are also projected, produced and built. Net turnover of Matek in 2010 was 138,8 million Estonia kroons and revenue 10,67 million Estonia kroons.

Matek participating in Legno & Edilizia 17.03-20.03.2011

International exhibition Legno & Edilizia on the use of wood in building is taking place in Fiero di Verona Italy from 17th March to 20th March. On show will be wooden structural work for civil engineering and public systems, trusses, panels, timber, semi-finished goods, formworks, frames, prefabricated houses, external structures, flooring, ceilings, staircases and wall coverings.

Matek will be presented by our representative in Italy Bonato Construzioni in Legno, introducing our wooden constructions and houses. Matek house’s fragment and references can be found at our representative’s stand.

Matek builds new factory in Pärnu

On Monday 25th of January city government of Pärnu adopted detailed plan of Matek’s Turba street premises. The construction work of new industrial building will start in spring, new plant which will double production output should be ready by the end of the year. Matek has been located on rental premises so far, but they do not suit their requirements anymore due to technological development of the company. „New building will have 8500 square meters of floor area. The goal is to double current production output by producing 120 000 square meters of plane elements and volumetric elements with floor area of 10 000 square meters “ comments Sven Mats, general manager of Matek. He adds that production in new plant should start at the end of this year. Size of detailed plan on premises located Turba 23 and 25 is 32 320 square meters and it is located in the industrial area named Rääma in Pärnu stretching from Ehitajate street to city border.

By   summation of two premises a plot of three hectares will be formed on which all other buildings and facilities except existing plant will be dismantled. An expansion of existing plant can be built on plot, area that can be occupied with buildings is up to 10 000 square meters. Building can be with maximum height of 18 meters.

New address from 24th of January

Our office in Tallinn will be relocated from the 24th of January, new address is Pärnu mnt 158, second floor. Juridical address of company is also going to change to Pärnu mnt 158, 11317 Tallinn. All our telephone number will remain the same.

Matek signed sponsoring contract with Estonian Yachting Union

MATEK

Matek renewed sponsoring contract with Estonian Yachting Union on 25th November. New contract was signed for next 2 years to sponsor Laser-class team. It is one of the simplest Olympic class boats that took part in the Olympic Games for the first time in 1996. Matek has been sponsoring Estonian Yachting Union since 2005.

Tammiste Kindergarten produced by Matek received award „Factory House of the Year 2010“

At the end of November by the leadership of  Estonian Wooden House Cluster and in association with Estonian Forest Industries Association and Puuinfo award „Factory House of the Year 2010“ was announced first time in the history of contest „Wooden House of the Year“. First award was nominated to Tammiste kindergarten produced by Matek AS.

Jury evaluated in selecting the best factory house the architectural design of the building, low energy emission, user-friendliness, social context, usage of material and constructional-technical quality. Leader of the contest Wooden House Cluster manager Elari Kivisoo said that Tammiste kindergarten had interesting and outstanding architectural solution that qualified well for the criteria put up for the contest.  This building is unique being Estonia’s first kindergarten built 100% of wooden constructions. In design and building process the emphasis was on high quality of indoor climate, low energy emission and cosiness.

The aim of setting up a new category in the competition was to popularise factory produced wooden houses and introducing its benefits to a wider public. Producing wooden house in a factory guarantees more precise outcome and higher quality than comparable houses built on construction site. The erection stage is also quicker and more efficient. Whole process is carried out by specialists and existence of necessary project documentation is always guaranteed. 

The houses to be presented for the competition had to be produced in Estonia and had to be completed by 31st of October 2010.

Jury of competition „Factory Building of the Year 2010“ consisted of 8-members  from Union of Estonian Architects, Estonian Society of Art Historians, Estonian Association of Civil Engineers, Estonian Forest Industries Association , Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs, Estonian Association of Architectural and Consulting Engineering Companies and Estonian Wooden House.

AS Matek’s credit rating was rated with highest level „excellent“(AAA) fifth year in a row on basis of profit-and-loss statement 2009 by Krediidiinfo AS belonging to Experian Group. Less than 1% of Estonia’s companies hold the same level of credit rating.
